Project: 250 year old cedar, Hartwell House, 10th June 2013

This cedar tree, at Hartwell House, had been dying for a number of years and finally became unsafe and had to be felled. It was believed to be over 250 years old and had been an important feature of the gardens throughout its life.

We were asked to convert every usable part of this magnificent tree into timber which could find a range of uses around the estate. We produced planks and boards and beams and wide slabs, all of which are currently being air-dried on site. The timber was of excellent quality and …
